4 miles

We had our 2nd group run yesterday. thankfully, it was after the freakin monsoon passed. This time we did 4 miles on the bike path. We have a section right across from the dojo that has been measured at 1/2 mile, so up and back is 1 mile and we do that 4 times. I don't know how, but i did it without any walking. Actually, i do know how- i set short term goals and it really works. That and good music on the mp3 player. Next week during Fun week i'm hoping to go to a ninjutsu seminar on thursday night. There will be star throwing and blow darts. COOL!

The short term goal trick really works, as well as "tricking" yourself. "As soon as I run for the rest of this song, I'll let myself walk..." then the song finishes, and don't walk, and then you say, "No, as soon as THIS song ends, THEN I can walk..." I'ts all about the mind game.

Supposedly, there's a good deal of mysticism in ninjutsu (ninpo): reading the thoughts of an enemy, seeing auras, etc. That sounds like more fun than the throwing stars or darts (and safer!)

Beth- that is it! its kind of weird to trick your own mind, though. i feel like i have a split personality. we need to get together for another run soon! maybe after this HHH crap passes.

damn, 4 miles...did you trip anybody this time? LOL I just started running again, (not as much fun if you don't have somebody there to TRIP you though) Lauren has decided to join me in running. She just started volleyball practice yesterday, she had to run a mile and "almost died" (her words). They have to run 1 mile in less than 9 minutes to make the Varsity team. She is all nervous about that but she will have no problem doing it, her long legs are her advantage. A little more challenging up here when running - no flat land, mountains!
Good luck with karate.

Ok, not that it is any of my business, but I am kinda confused. There is "Red" AND "Sheila" posting. Who is who? Cuz I am thinking that maybe Red is Joan cuz Red mentions Lauren. Hmmm... just call me Nancy Drew....

Sorry Nancy- nope. I'll email you.
